Cameron Baron Honors His Grandfather’s Legacy

Bushwackers Archery Club Officer and Head of Security, Cameron Baron, was recently pictured with a pig he successfully harvested while saddle hunting—a style of hunting where you're strapped into a tree with a harness, giving you a better view and keeping you quiet and mobile.

Cameron got the pig for his son Cameron Jr.’s first birthday, cooking it imu-style—a classic way to celebrate with ʻohana. Pictured below are his friends and family who helped dig for the special cook out.

Cameron’s roots in the Bushwackers run deep. He’s the grandson of Peter Akau, one of the club’s original members. Although Peter is no longer with us, his legacy is kept alive through the annual Peter Akau Memorial Shoot, hosted by the Bushwackers with help from the Akau family. The event celebrates Peter’s love for archery and the good times and friendships the club was built on.

This year’s shoot will be held on July 26th, with check-in at 7:30 AM. Come out, have fun, and help us remember one of the OG Bushwackers the best way we know how—by sending some arrows downrange.
