Bushwacker Cup

Bushwacker Cup: A New Tradition Takes Aim

This summer, something new took flight for the Bushwacker crew — the very first Bushwacker Cup. More than just a shoot, this event was all about pushing limits and bringing the club closer together in a way we hadn’t seen before.

Vice President John Cerovich, along with a solid team of club members, spent weeks putting together a custom course built to challenge even our most experienced hunters. With creative shot placements and rugged terrain, this wasn’t your average day at the range. Throw in the blazing Kapolei sun, it was a true test of endurance and skill.

Watching archers take on the course with focus, determination, and precision was something special. Every target felt like a new challenge, and every arrow was a mix of strategy, instinct, and heart.

Once the competition wrapped up, Bushwackers came together for a potluck celebration with family and friends — the perfect way to kick off what’s sure to be an annual tradition. Bushwacker Cup trophy: custom-engraved and built to last, it’ll travel home with each year’s top scorers.

This year’s top honors went to Officer Stephen Gade, who not only led the pack overall but also took first in the Freestyle division with an impressive 470 points.

Big congrats to all our winners:

  • Stephen Gade – Freestyle Champion (470 pts)

  • Cameron Baron – Freestyle Bowhunter Champion (459 pts)

  • Jorge Gonzales – Traditional Champion (254 pts) and one of our newest members!

  • Silvia Taylor – Our newest keiki division shooter, proudly scoring a 395

Each winner will get to take the trophy home for a bit — a little bragging rights and a whole lot of pride.

Huge shoutout to President Willie Pelayre for his leadership and for helping turn this idea into reality. The Bushwacker Cup isn’t just a competition — it’s a reflection of who the Bushwackers are : a crew that shows up, shoots hard, and supports one another every step of the way.

Until next time
