Bushwackers On Big Island
Bushwackers Head to Big Island for an Epic Hunting Trip
The Bushwacker team set off on a memorable hunting trip to Big Island, ready to tackle the tough conditions of a 2-day hunt. With high winds and temperatures ranging from 30-40°F, it was no easy feat. Starting their days at 4 a.m. with a drive from Waikoloa to Waimea, the group spent their mornings and afternoons hunting, navigating high elevations and varied terrain.
Vice President John Cerovich made his mark early, taking down both a ram and an ewe. Using stealth and patience, he crawled behind a tree to close the distance before making his shot. Director Dane Asato also went after his prey with a slow and steady approach, successfully hunting a ram. Makana Macomber, who helped lead the team, successfully hunted an ewe. Fellow instructor Stephen Gade, who also braved the rain and cold, managed to secure a ram after enduring the elements throughout the trip.
After a long few days in the field, the team processed and packed their harvest to bring back to their families on Oahu. With a successful trip under their belts, they returned just in time to hold the Spring 3D Hunters Challenge Tournament on March 22nd, 2025—kicking off what promises to be an exciting year for the Bushwacker crew.
Until next time.
